Rocky Shore Seascape Study Painting
11″ x 14 “, Acrylic on Canvas, 2010
by Charles C. Clear III
There is a stretch of rocky shore near Point Judith Light in Narragansett, Rhode Island, that is all but impassable save for the hardy and the reckless. Here the waves break like thunder and shower mists of liquid salt, which retreats unseen to join the rising tide. The warm wet rocks, beaten smooth and round by the relentless sea, glisten like diamonds in the late summer sun. Here there is a poetry and a stillness and an order to it all, as though every rock were carefully and lovingly placed.
This Seascape Study explores the shapes, forms, textures, and colors of the rocks, and the play of light upon wet and dry surfaces.
While this original painting was sold, fine art prints and poster art reproductions of Rocky Shore Seascape Study are available in a variety of sizes, and in a variety of media. Contact me for more information, and to discuss your specific needs.
