Yogurt Beach Caribbean Mural, All walls in store, 2015
Hopkinton, Massachusetts
by Charles C. Clear III
A Caribbean Mural was the right choice for Yogurt Beach, which is a fun, beach-themed yogurt shop in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. It’s located right next to the starting line of the Boston Marathon. They have every kind of yogurt and topping imaginable, which you can enjoy beside a big tiki hut, on surfboard tabletops, while listening to lots of good reggae music.
In the Spring of 2015, I painted this scenic Caribbean Mural in their store. It was the second Mural that I painted for a Yogurt Beach yogurt shop. The first one was in their store in Plainville, Massachusetts in 2013, and I painted that mural with Bonnie Lee Turner. Like the first one, this mural also features a Caribbean beach scene, with calm turquoise water, a gentle surf lapping against the light sandy shore, lush green islands, palm trees, seagulls, a sailboat, and foliage springing up from behind the booths.
I also painted clouds on every wall of this store. It was a fairly big space to fill. I worked off scaffolding and finished the project in about a week. My painted clouds have a dreamy, calming, magical feel, and from what I hear they’ve been very well received by the customers and staff of Yogurt Beach.
